Sustainable Works exist to ensure that the concepts of sustainability and the actions associated with living a sustainable lifestyle are integrated into the daily activities of individuals, institutions and businesses.

General Description

Sustainable Works is looking for a reliable and motivated individual to handle financial and office management responsibilities.  The Office Administrator Intern will manage reception responsibilities, payroll and reimbursement processing, invoicing and payment tracking as well as deposit processing. In addition, they will be responsible for managing and reconciling petty cash and office supply inventory. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10-15 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Proficient command of English grammar and spelling
• Must be proficient in MS Office
• Experience with Constant Contact and inDesign is a plus but not required
• Past Office Administration is a plus but not required
• Pride in appearance
• Interest in the mission of Sustainable Works and some knowledge of the sustainability sector is a plus

Skills
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required
• Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work with various departments to finish necessary projects


General Description

Sustainable Works is looking for a reliable and motivated individual to help with the planning and implementation of sustainable community events in Santa Monica.  The Community Greening Program Intern will assist with all elements of our Sustainable Santa Monica Student Poster Contest and Environmental Film series. Responsibilities will include assisting with outreach; including drafting press releases, designing flyers and emailing. In addition, the Community Greening Program Intern will assist with in class presentations, organization of materials, donation requests, poster tracking and judging and assisting with set up at both events. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Proficient command of English grammar and spelling
• Must be proficient in MS Office

Sustainable Works is looking for a self-motivated individual to work with the Executive Director to locate and write grant proposals to secure funding for expansion and program development.  The Grant writing intern would also be responsible for creating a calendar of available grants and deadlines for the upcoming year. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10-15 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Previous grant writing experience is preferred but not required
• Candidate must demonstrate excellent writing and research skills
• A background in sustainability is preferred
• Proficient in basic computer programs: MS Office

Skills
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work proactively within a team as well as  independently
• Self starter, able to think creatively to solve problems


General Description
Sustainable Works is looking for a highly creative, motivated and driven individual who can conceptualize and produce creative campaigns and a wide variety of graphic materials for Sustainable Works’ programs. The ability to create compelling designs for both print and digital platforms is essential. Qualified candidates must exhibit knowledge in creative marketing, advertising, and technology trends. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10-15 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Must be proficient in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, & Photoshop and/or other common design and layout Applications
• Having a computer and access to graphic design and layout software is required
• Proficient command of English grammar and spelling

Sustainable Works is looking for an outgoing and self-motivated individual to develop and implement creative ideas to increase our Local Perks Partnerships.  The Local Perks Intern will communicate directly with businesses to explain the benefits of a Local Perks Partnership.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 15-20 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Must have a car (we will reimburse for mileage)
• Sales experience preferred
• Capable of working flexible hours
• Comfortable working independently
• Interest in the mission of Sustainable Works and some knowledge of the sustainability sector is a plus
• Proficient in basic computer skills: MS Office

Sustainable Works is looking for a self-motivated individual with experience in membership and/or donation administration. The Membership Program Administrative Intern will manage and maintain current memberships, add new members, engage weekly via email with the members, outreach at events and engage prospective members, and develop and implement creative ideas to build membership. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10-15 hrs per week

Sustainable Works is looking for a self-motivated individual who will be responsible for researching scholarly literature, articles, books, videos, podcasts, and documentaries.  He or she will also be responsible for compiling a list of organizations, agencies, and websites relevant to Sustainable Works.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment: 10-15 hrs per week

General Description
Sustainable Works is looking for a self-motivated individual with Drupal experience and web content management skills.  The main focus of this position will be overall site management.  Writing and editing for the web as well as graphic design experience is preferred.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience working with a professional staff in an enthusiastic, community-based Non-profit Environmental Organization.

Time commitment:  10-15 hrs per week

Qualifications
• Intermediate to Advanced knowledge of Drupal, HTML and CSS;
• Basic Adobe Creative Suite skills preferred;
• Proficient command of English grammar and spelling
